Shri Mahila Udyog Lijjat Papad is an ISO 9001 certified organization of the women, for the women and by the women. The pioneer batch of 7 women began in 1959 at Girgaum, South Bombay.

Triumph to Celebration:
Lijjat is a flourishing company today after initial trials and tribulations with a borrowed sum of Rs 80. With self reliance as their policy and quality consciousness as their principle they have become a successful organization.

Brand Quotient:
Besides Lijjat Papad, the organization provides Masala, gehuatta, chapattis, appallam, detergent powder and laundry soap. With over 82 branches and 27 divisions their sisterhood has increased to 45,000 women with self employment.

Trailblazing:
With the objective of providing self employment to ladies, they enable them to a decent and dignified livelihood. Their exports are made through merchant exporters to countries like UK, USA, Japan, Australia and more. A turning point in 1966 was when they got registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act 1950.

Cutting Edge:
The institution has received an award from the Khadi & Village Industries Commission as the “Best Village Industry”. They received “The Business women of the year 2001-02 for Corporate Excellence” at the Economic Times Awards. In 2005 they received the Brand Equity Award through the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. President, Smt. Swati R. Paradkar was presented the 'Global Economic Award' for outstanding contribution to Women Empowerment and Self-reliance by Mrs. Nora Terrado, Minister for Trade and Industry, Philippines in the Global Economic Summit 2017.
